新加坡航空已经毫无争议地成为新加坡的最大品牌。新航起源于1947年5月，当时aMalayan Airways?LimitedAirspeed Consul航班从新加坡加冷机场起飞，每周有三个航班飞往吉隆坡、怡保和槟城。1963年9月16日，马来西亚联邦诞生，航空公司变为马来西亚航空而闻名。1966年5月，马来西亚航空变身为马新航空（Malaysia-Singapore Airlines）。1972年，马新航空分裂为两个组织——新航和马航。新航诞生。

1968年，法国妇女服装设计师Pierre Balmain设计的sarong kebaya 制服横空出世，国际公认的新加坡少女形象也登台亮相。新航于1972年开始使用这个LOGO，在1987年对LOGO进行了微调，新航的LOGO图形代表了银剑（Silver Kris）。新航位于全球各地的机场贵宾室就取名为SilverKris?Lounge。

In 1968, the sarong kebaya uniform designed by French couturier Pierre Balmain was introduced and?the internationally recognized image of the?Singapore?Girl debuted. The symbol of the logo represents a Silver Kris.?
